Location: The Wai‘anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center – pioneering Native Hawaiian and other traditional healing arts in an integrated health setting.
Time: 9:00 am to 1:30 pm (not including transportation time)
Experience: Learn about Native Hawaiian healing arts from Kahu Kauila Clark, a “kahu” (teacher, promoter, and caretaker) of Native Hawaiian practices and one of only five Hawaiian Healers recognized by the State of Hawai‘i. Kahu Kauila’s lineage has long been that of healers and keepers of the sacred knowledge of Hawaiian ways and he is a living example of what it means to “Be Aloha.” For those fortunate enough to participate in this special event, he will share much of his “mana‘o” (knowledge) about Hawaii’s beauty, spiritual essence, and ancient understandings.
Your visit will include a tour of the Center’s La’au Walking Trail, featuring medicinal herbs and other plants useful to the Native Hawaiian people.
You will also be given a deeper look into the Center’s efforts to perpetuate the Native Hawaiian Healing Arts, such as:
- Lomilomi (Hawaiian massage healing focusing on muscle stress relaxation therapy)
- La’au Lapa’au (herbal medicine)
- La’au Kahea (spiritual healing)
- Ho’oponopono (conflict resolution)
At the end of this unique experience, you will have the opportunity to pick up a specially prepared lunch at the Center’s Ka’a’aina Café for your return trip to Waikïkï.
Price: $60.00+tax including transportation from and to Waikïkï. (Lunch is optional.)
Susan G. Komen Donation: $15.00 of the proceeds from each tour.
