Exciting updates at Disney Aulani Nov 29
Aulani -

Disney Aulani –

As if  Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa on the Hawaiian island of O’ahu was not wonderful to begin, several improvements  to the resort have recently been made including:

** A new family pool and new kids’ splash zone in the already popular Waikolohe Valley water play area

** Two new quick-service dining locations **  New adults-only area featuring the Wailana Pool gives adults looking for a little privacy on a family-friendly resort a perfect place to relax- Although the Wailana Pool Bar isn’t a swim-up, the secluded location near the Laniwai Spa makes up for this especially at Happy Hour.**Enhanced water-slides  one  a volcano-inspired, fast and covered experience / the other slow and open air– be prepared to wait in line as these are very popular**New infinity pool and grotto at Ka Maka Landing adds a touch of glamour to the property.

Menehune Bridge

Menehune Bridge

The Menehune Bridge was already a blast for children, but  toddlers will now also enjoy playing at the new Keiki Cove– encircled by lounge chairs for attentive parents, allowing parents with different ages of children to keep an eye on those playing on the Menehune Bridge and those that are younger and would best be suited for Keiki Cove or for a change of pace everyone can grab an inner-tube and take a ride down the lazy river of the Waikolohe Stream.

** More value price point food options have been added for families  – The Ulu Café – take away alternative as is Little Opihi – a beachfront option. Improvements to the Public Spaces  include : ** New Luxury retail store   ** Expansion and additions to the lawn  area  for events  such as the Starlit Hui Show a guest favorite, weddings, and group events.

Aulani – A Disney Resort & Spa Oct 26

Towering lobby

Aulani  a Disney Resort & Spa is located about 30-45 minutes from Waikiki in the secluded Ko’Olina Resort Community. Located on a  beautiful beach Aulani is a perfect choice for families and honeymooners alike. From the moment you step into the towering atrium lobby you know you have arrived at a special place. The designers of Aulani put a great deal of attention into bringing Hawaiian culture and sense of place in many aspects of design. Restaurant names such as Makahiki (annual Hawaiian Harvest festival), AMA’AMA(local mullet fish) and Lava Shack continue the theme.

Aulani -

Guest staying at Aulani have many complimentary amenities available to them such as Aunty’s Beach House, Luana Lounge for early check in/check out, in room amenities such as robes, mini fridge,Blue-Ray DVD player, daily turndown service, and a limited number of sand wheelchairs are available on a first come first serve basis for use on the beach area, this should give you an idea of what is available. Of course what would a Disney resort be without entertainment and that certainly applies to Aulani / Starlit Hui-an evening gathering of music, dance and fun blending traditional Hawaiian and modern entertainment, Po La’ila’i-Sunset Gathering Ceremony, ‘Ohana (family) movie nights,Mo’olelo Fireside story telling and Character Meet & Greets.

Menehune Bridge

So many recreational activities for all ages in Waikolohe Valley including the Menehune Bridge a favorite for the children where they learn about the legendary “little people” who are responsible for mysterious happenings around the islands, as they climb and splash and play on the play structure. Guest can also climb on a tube and glide through the Waikolohe Stream, snorkel in Rainbow Reef the only private snorkel lagoon on O’ahu, or enjoy the 8200 square feet of the Waikolohe Pool. Located between the two towers of Aulani  the Waikolohe Valley offers hours of fun and memories for a lifetime. It is so hard to describe Aulani in a brief blog post, but I do hope you will  be able to visit soon with your family.

Laniwai Spa at Aulani Resort & Spa Oct 19

Upon checking in at the reception area, I was taken  to the Rotunda  and I was puzzled when I saw this round pool  of stones in water and my therapist instructed me to pick a stone, read the word on the back, she then advised me that this was what my body needed to receive that day from the spa, the stone knew what it was talking about, I left the spa completely refreshed.
It is hard to believe that Laniwai is the first destination spa ever designed by Walt Disney Imagineers, they nailed it.  As someone who truly enjoys going to the spa, that feels that getting regular spa treatments has  medicinal value, I have visited spas throughout Hawai’i, Caribbean and Mexico but I must say Laniwai Spa  is incredible. Since Aulani is a family resort, the designers thought of everyone from singles, couples, families and even hard to please teenagers. Truly something for everyone.

Six unique Waterfall Rain Showers

Regardless of the treatments that you choose, you will experience a journey infused with Hawaiian culture. Your journey will include Kula Wai, a 5000 square foot outdoor hydrotherapy garden  before or after your treatment, Vitality Baths, Herbal Pools and six unique Waterfall Rain Showers featured in the photo on the left. Early Hawaiians used water together with massage to help restore the body. Hawaiians bathed in fresh cool streams, mineral and sulfur baths and used the sea to wash away daily aches and pains. With that knowledge in mind a spa menu full of  Signature Therapies, massage therapies, herbal body remedies and natural skin care was created in addition to the full service salon, state of the art fitness center and so much more.

Teens have their own private area  Painted Sky Lounge (the only teen spa in Hawai’i) reserved for them complete with yogurt bar, facial therapies, after hours events, weekly wellness and fitness programming. Family Treatment Suites invite families to share in a  beautiful experience together , children ages 5 and up can take part in ‘Ohana , a family massage based on the healing  touches of lomilomi or take part in a keiki hula experience, either way gives new meaning to TIMEOUT .
Aulani is  17 miles from the Honolulu Airport–Located 92-1185 Ali’inui Drive , Kapolei, Hawai’i 96707

Disney Names New Oahu Resort – Aulani Jan 27

Walt Disney Parks & Resorts announced the name of its new Hawaii resort this month. The resort will be called Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawaii. It is Disney’s first stand-alone family destination resort and is scheduled to open in 2011.

Aulani, pronounced “ow–lonee,” means “the place that speaks for the great ones” or “the place that speaks with deep messages.” Nearby to historical sites on the western side of Oahu, Aulani will be located on 21-acres of oceanfront property in the Ko Olina Resort & Marina development. The Resort is planned to have 360 hotel rooms and 481 two-bedroom equivalent Disney Vacation Club villas. Among the recreational highlights planned for the resort are pools and sunset-facing hot tubs, a snorkeling lagoon, a variety of Kids Club programs for children, and a river, suitable for tube floating, running through a specially created volcanic outcropping. The resort will also include an 18,000-square-foot spa, a golf course and marina for adults.
